Woman on edge of cliff

‘Winging it’.

“We’ll just wing it when we get there.” Sheryl settles into the sofa, coffee in hand.  The question under debate is how they will deal with being transported from the international airport in Dubai to the hotel where the athletes will stay.

“You can’t wing everything!”  I don’t know why I pursue the topic because it’s evident that my just cause is already lost. “You’re arriving early on Friday morning… a night of not sleeping on the plane. Do you really want to waste time at the airport looking for transport?  When is your first event?”

“Monday. The 400m. I don’t have the full programme yet – just the date.”

I am the one who likes to have the full plan in place with all the details settled.

“Remember Sao Paulo, mom? It all worked out okay.”

I grimace. But inside I’m smiling.

We often disagree on this ‘winging it’ issue, but somehow, it always works out. Sometimes we have to just wing it in life.

(Sheryl has since returned from Dubai with a bronze and a silver medal. Watch this space for more details. We are also looking forward to sharing more about THE BIGGER PICTURE.)

  1. Indeed, wing it when all options have run dry, and all that is left is your faith, knowing that all obstacles no matter how big or small will work out!
